GARY MCDOUGLE, P.E.

Gary McDougle graduated with a BA in Applied Mathematics  in 1990 and then a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1993.  Both degrees were earned from Florida Atlantic University.  He started as a field engineering with PEICO in 1993.  Specializing in quality assurance, quality control, and special inspections for a wide range of residential and commercial projects.  After a while Gary expanded into the design side of PEICO.  Starting with miscellaneous construction repairs to structural plan preparation of single family homes for national home builders.

Gary earned his Florida professional engineering license in 2000.

He left PEICO with several partners and helped to start SPEC in 2002 but left to become the Director of Engineering for WCI Communities in 2003.  While at WCI he prepared a wide variety of structural plans that were to be used all over the state and also Virginia.  He managed a group of engineers and drafters that prepared MEP and structural plans for WCI’s use.  Gary stayed with WCI until the bubble burst in 2008.

In 2008, Gary returned to SPEC to start-up the design department.  Slowly but steadily, design has expanded to a wide variety of projects and locations.  This includes production homes for Lennar, WCI, DR Horton, and many others.  Custom homes from Key Largo to Palm Beach for numerous architects and custom home builders.  Commercial projects include strip shopping plazas, to tilt-up commercial buildings anywhere in the state of Florida.  In addition, Gary works with specialty contractors in the preparation of shop drawings for: light gage metal studs, timber and wood frame structures, aluminum railings and other structures.

Our experience, field knowledge, and a “can do” attitude has allowed Gary to thrive since we stretch the boundaries of the box.
